Oiishi is East Kilbride's first Japanese restaurant, offering authentic, high quality Japanese cuisine. Opened in October 2017, it has expanded the culinary choices and palate of many locals, and is frequented by food lovers from Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond. Thanks to Stephen Lau's team of expert chefs, the restaurant has been voted multiple times as one of the top 100 restaurants in Scotland:

Specialising in fresh sushi and authentic Japanese cuisine, the menu at Oiishi caters for all tastes and appetites, including vegetarian/vegan and gluten-free options. While it may be best known for Sushi, Japanese cuisine is not just raw fish! All our cooked dishes are inspired by traditional Japanese street food, including Tori Karaage (Fried chicken), Takoyaki (Octopus), Tori Kushi-Yaki (Grilled Chicken), Teriyaki Pork Ribs, Soup Ramen and Udon noodles. The 'Volcano Chilli Ramen/Udon' and 'Volcanic Sushi' are Oiishi's own creation, intended to delight the tastebuds of the more adventurous diner.
At the helm is Stephen Lau, who himself was trained under the watchful eye of Japanese master chefs in Singapore, not only takes great care in sourcing and preparing the freshest ingredients, but also pays particular attention to the artistic presentation of the food - even down to the finer details of which ceramic plates should go with which dish. "Our aim is ensuring our diners leave with a memorable experience." says Stephen.
